Offers a slightly modified version of Word-Faith theology; advocates reliance on positive confession of health even in cases of serious illness; according to a latter-day revelation, Christians can not properly represent an infinitely rich God unless they are rich and successful themselves; highly subjective "prophetic" interpretation of the Bible.

In March of 2016, Adelaja stepped down as pastor of his church amid reports of sexual improprieties with female members of his congregation. In a video interview posted on YouTube by the "ZimEye" news service, he indicated that he planned to return to Africa. In 2007, Adelaja was not allowed to enter Russia because of his open support of the Orange Revolution in Ukraine. In 2008 Adelaja was alleged to have a role in the failure of King’s Capital, described as "a business venture that some claim bilked investors out of $100 million."

Adelaja’s Word-Faith connections aren’t limited to his past relationship with Kenneth Hagin Sr.. In his books he refers to other well-known Faith teachers—Paul Crouch, Lester Sumrall, Benny Hinn, Joyce Meyer, Reinhard Bonnke, David Yonggi Cho—and the official web site of the “Embassy of God” carries announcements of Adelaja’s meetings and joint projects with Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar, Billy Joe Dougherty, Marilyn Hickey, and Kenneth Hagin Jr.
